Rio Grande softball has been picked to finish sixth in the preseason Mid-South Conference coaches poll, receiving 39 points in the ballots voted on by the league’s head coaches.
The RedStorm will be a younger team in 2014 led by juniors Jessi Robinson and Haley Gwin, who led the team with ten home runs last season. Also returning is starting catcher Kim Rollins who started all forty games for the RedStorm last season as a freshman.
Number one in the polls is Lindsey Wilson, followed by Campbellsville, Cumberland, Georgetown and Shawnee State.
Kristen Bradshaw enters her third season at the helm. She led the RedStorm to a record of 22-19 in 2013.
The Red Storm open the season with a doubleheader against conference foe Cumberland on Feb. 28 at home.
