The Ohio University School of Music will present a concert by the Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band on Thursday, Feb. 13 at 7:30 p.m. in Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium.
This concert will feature Ohio University School of Music faculty members Sean Parsons (piano) and Roger Braun (drums), along with guest artist Steven Heffner (bass) on an arrangement of The Beatles' "Blackbird." This arrangement for jazz trio was created by pianist Shelly Berg, dean of the College of Music at the University of Miami.
The performance will also include the music of Henry Fillmore, Percy Aldridge Grainger, Gustav Holst, Chang Su Koh, David Maslanka and Johan de Meij
The concert serves as a homecoming for the members of the Wind Symphony, who performed at the Ohio Music Education Association Professional Development Conference in Columbus on Thursday, Feb. 6.
The Wind Symphony is conducted by Dr. Andrew Trachsel and the Symphonic Band is conducted by Dr. Richard Suk.
