Oh, sweet Valentine’s Day…how you are either loved or dreaded! I have always been giddy when it comes to this holiday with the reds and pinks, brightly colored flowers, chocolate candies waiting to be unveiled and revealed. However, there was a time in my childhood in which a family experience brought sadness to my youngster heart, but, time healed that wound and replaced it with more love. In school I couldn’t wait to receive those precious Valentine’s from my friends (by the way, I still have them all), and, now, my little one shares that same excitement!
If you’re sharing the holiday with a large group, your partner, a couple of family members, friends or an evening to yourself then do something special. Your effort doesn’t need to be expensive or time consuming…just special.

I have a couple of yummy treats you may be delighted to indulge in:

Valen – Tini
1 cup of light cream
2 ounces of vodka
3 T. chocolate syrup
1 T. McCormick Imitation Strawberry Extract
Fill cocktail shaker two-thirds full of ice, add ingredients, shake until well mixed and chilled. Serve in martini glasses with a dollop of whipped cream if you desire.

Cherry Chocolate Bundtlettes
One box of devil’s food cake mix
One can of cherry pie filling
Oil of choice
Eggs
Vanilla extract
Follow the directions on the box of the devil’s food cake mix; those directions may or may not include the ALL of last four ingredients above. However, instead of using water REPLACE that with the entire can of cherry pie filling. Pour mixture in to mini bundt cake molds or heart-shaped molds, etc. Bake according to temperature listed on box and until a toothpick or cake tester is clean of mixture.
