West Virginia is ratcheting up water testing at schools on orders from Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin.

The testing is expected to occur over the weekend, with results due back by next week. The state Department of Education is working with the National Guard on the new round of testing.

Officials lifted a ban on using the water almost a month ago after a Jan. 9 chemical leak that contaminated the water supply of 300,000 people. But complaints at schools persist, with some as recent as this week.

Tomblin says he has "gone above and beyond" federal recommendations on water testing, and the new round of testing is intended to assure parents, students and staff of the state's commitment to the highest level of public safety.
