This week, Ohio University School of Media Arts and Studies Instructor Josh Antonuccio will be leading a class of 24 OU students for a week-long trip to South by Southwest in Austin, Texas.

This industry immersion course provides OU MDIA students the opportunity to engage with all facets of the music industry at the largest media industry gathering of the year.

South by Southwest offers an unparalleled convergence of the music, interactive, and film industries and fosters an engaging atmosphere for professional and educational growth.

OU students will hear personally from industry professionals in a variety of ways, including panel discussions, keynote addresses, interviews, workshops, as well as one-on-one mentoring sessions with professionals in their specific field of choice.

Some of this year's speakers and panelists include Neil Young, Cee-Lo Green, St. Vincent, P-Diddy, and Russell Simmons of Def Jam.

Along with immersive learning, OU MDIA students will be building strategic partnerships for internships, as well as networking with employers, colleagues, and potential clients.

Students get to observe firsthand the scope and networks that exist within today’s current music and media industries. Not only that, but they will have access to hundreds of showcases for established and upcoming artists in the evenings, getting to experience the best music of the year first hand.

In April the students from the trip will be presenting about their experience in two panel discussions. These presentations will be free and open for OU students wanting to learn about the trip experience, as well as what trends were discussed at the conference.
