The Pioneers completed their spring trip Saturday morning with a 4-0 victory over the State University of New York at New Paltz, finishing the trip with an 8-3 overall record.

The real damage for Marietta was over the duration of the seventh inning kick-starting with Christian Demko’s RBI single to give the Pios a 2-0 lead. The Pios kept fans entertained as Demko stole second and Zach Bukiewicz stole home to widen the lead to 3-0.

Marietta also found the plate in the first and eighth innings thanks to RBIs from Josh Ungerbuehler and Johnston.

Ryan Hanahan had an extremely successful day at the plate leading the Pios with three hits.

Tyler Nieberding, Jim Luyster and Mike Fulton kept the Hawks’ offensive efforts under wraps on the mound, allowing just four hits overall on the day.

Nieberding collected his second win of the season while Brian Solomon dropped his second loss of the season for the Hawks.

Marietta opens a home stand Wednesday with a doubleheader against La Roche College.
