Kelly Lamberti has been named to the U.S. Collegiate National Team. The elite squad will compete during a tour of Europe from July 8-9.
The junior outside hitter is one of 12 student-athletes that will compete with the national team this summer. Lamberti played six matches in China in 2011 as part of the Bring It Promotions/USA Volleyball Global Change. Lamberti is the only student-athlete from a non-BCS program to make the team.
The players will depart on July 8 for Venice, Italy before traveling to Maribor, Slovenia for a four-day training camp. The team will train and compete in friendly scrimmages with Slovenia’s national team and Under-20 national team, along with multiple other Under-20 national teams. The U.S will travel to Pula, Croatia to compete in the Global Challenge from July 13-18 in conjunction with the Bring It Promotions.
After earning Mid-American Conference Player of the Year in 2012, Lamberti shined during her junior season in her new role as the primary attack for the Bobcats. The Cary, Ill. native earned American Volleyball Coaches Assocation All-Region and first-team All-MAC honors.
