A Huntington man has been convicted in federal court on a child pornography charge.

U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin says 66-year-old John D. Hayes was found guilty following a three-day bench by U.S. District Judge Robert. C. Chambers in Huntington.

Goodwin says Chambers found that Hayes knowingly possessed child pornography on a computer at his home and tried to distribute it through a file-sharing program in 2012.

Hayes faces at least 15 years in prison when he's sentenced on July 7.

Goodwin says Hayes was convicted in 1979 in Putnam County Circuit Court on two counts of second-degree sexual assault, one involving a 10-year-old girl.
