Sybarite5 Comes To Ohio University

Ohio University is hosting the Sybarite5 in Baker University Center.

The event, held in the Baker Theatre, will feature the group, playing all genres of music.

The string quintet, known for their diverse style, is known nationally for altering the world of chamber music.  

Andrew Holzaepfel, the Senior Associate Director of the Campus Involvement Center expects a full house.

Holzaepfel said the School of Music suggested the group resulting in the Campus Arts Center putting together the "On The Edge" concert series this year.

The quintet is made up of Sami Merdinian and Sarah Whitney, violinists, Angela Pickett, violaist, Laura Metcalf, cellist, and Louis Levitt, bass.

The group plays a range of music from “Mozart to Radiohead.”

In the fall of 2011, the group won as in Concert Artists Guild International Competition as the first string quintet in its 60 year history.

The group has played all over the nation including their Carnegie Hall debut at Zankel Hall, the Library of Congress, on the CBS Early Show, and even for the Dalai Lama.
