Nelsonville police are asking the public's help in trying to locate a Hocking College student who has been reported missing by his mother.

James Michael Stucky, 27, was last seen Sunday at about 9 p.m. walking along Route 56 toward Athens from the Hoopla in the Hills music festival, according to Nelsonville Police Chief Jason Wallace.

Stucky is described as white, about 6-foot-1 in height, weighing 214 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes.

His mother, Zelda Stucky, came to the Nelsonville police station late Tuesday night to report her son missing. She told police she had not had any contact with him since Saturday, even though he had made arrangements to meet her Monday at his residence on Columbus Street in Nelsonville. She told police he was distraught over the death of his aunt.

As of noon Wednesday, police had been unable to make contact with the missing man. A statewide alert has been issued.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts can contact Nelsonville police at 753-1736.
