The Tony Award-winning rock musical is a modern adaptation of Frank Wedikind’s 1891 expressionist play about the trials and tribulations, as well as the exhilaration, of the teen years.

Spring Awakening is being directed for ZCT by Eric Blake. Thomas Tompkins is the musical director. The play is being produced by Janice Blake and Jillian B. Von Gunten is serving as choreographer.

The large cast includes the following actors: Brittany Wilson as Wendla; Amber Winland as Martha; Kaleigh Jones as Thea; Tahnee Dorsey as Anna; Ashley Krieger as Ilse; Steven Wilson as Melchior; Matthew Harper as Moritz; Sean Adam McClure as Hanschen; Blake Nessleroad as Ernst; Anthony Harper as Georg; Cory Roush as Otto; Chelsey Luallen as Krystal; and Brandon Bishop as Robert.

Two actors will be taking on the portrayals of a varied series of characters. Lauren Metcalf will appear as Frau Bergman, Frau Knuppledick, Frau Grossebustenhalter, Frau Gabor and Frau Russell. Matt Swingle appears as Herr Sonnenstich, Herr Neumann, Headmaster Knochenbruch, Herr Rilow, Herr Stiefel, Father Kaulbach, Doctor Von Brausepulver, Herr Gabor and Herr Schmidt.

Spring Awakening is, essentially, a celebration of rebellion, and provides a perfect opportunity for these local performers to showcase the vocal talents and strong acting abilities. The play takes an unforgettable journey from youth to adulthood, with power, poignancy and passion.
