GE to Bring 1,400 New Jobs to Ohio

The U.S. Global Operations Center should create about 1,400 jobs.
Gov. John Kasich’s entity JobsOhio is assisting in return for GE’s choosing Cincinnati.
“It’s going to generate a lot of revenue down there, but it’s also going to provide great opportunity across the state,” said Kasich.
Allen and Kasich remained mum about the location of the new center and potential salaries, but Kasich promised the new jobs will be “white collar,” and “high-paying.”
Allen said many jobs will be in the information technology sector, and applicants will range in diversity.
“We’re looking at all levels from entry level to late career, so it will be a wide range,” said Joe Allen, general manager of the Shared Services Division of GE.
GE already has 16,000 employees in Ohio, more than any other state.
“From a GE perspective, we’ve had a great partnership with the state, we’ve had a great partnership with JobsOhio,” Allen said.
But Ohio Democrats said Kasich failed to support GE in the past, pointing to a 2010 interview quoting the governor as being unsupportive of a federal bailout for the company.
Today however, Kasich echoed Allen’s comments that Ohio’s relationship with GE is healthy.
“They’re an iconic company. They’re one of the great companies in the world and so for them to further stamp down their presence here, it’s fantastic,” he said.
