Ohio University Zanesville will be recognizing the work of student artists from the 2013-2014 school year with an exhibit and reception on Monday, April 28 from 4:30-6 p.m. in the Zanesville Campus Library.

The event will incorporate a wide array of art from students under the direction of Ohio University faculty Maddy Fraoili, instructor of Fine Arts; Dr. Lisa Haven and Mike Nern, associate professors of English; Whitney Sage, lecturer of Art; and Michael Seiler, instructor of Fine Arts.

Student pieces will include ceramics, drawings, music, paintings, photographs and written works.

The Student Art Appreciation event was created to recognize students for efforts they have put into artistic projects for the 2013-2014 school year and to encourage them to continue the pursuit of creativity and art appreciation, no matter their discipline.

For example, Nursing Student Keith Simpson of Hopewell enjoys ceramics and will unveil a table he created at the event.

Music will be provided by Ohio University Zanesville students and the Choral Union will perform one number as a preview to its concert later in the evening.

Participants are invited to enjoy the Ohio University Zanesville Choral Union’s Spring Mini-Concert after the art reception. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Elson Hall Auditorium. The events are free and open to the community.
