Host Jackie Wolf discusses trauma-informed care with Dr. Joe Bianco.

Trauma-informed care is a term that refers to different care – programs and initiatives that are coming out of psychological trauma research. The discussion talks about individuals that have a high prevalence of adversity and trauma, including care givers such as doctors and social workers that give the care.

While most people think of trauma in terms of PTSD, brought on by a major trauma trigger or event, Wolf and Bianco talk about trauma that sometimes comes from a lack of resources or longtime abuse.

Dr. Bianco is assistant professor of social and behavioral medicine at Ohio University's Heritage College of Medicine.
