The Ohio men’s basketball team welcomed another addition to its backcourt Tuesday, as it announced that former Houston guard Jaaron Simmons will be transferring to Ohio.

Simmons, a Dayton, Ohio, native, only spent one year at Houston, giving three remaining years of eligibility after he sits out the 2014-15 season. Simmons played in 32 games last season but only played about 11 minutes, averaging two points per game.

The 6-foot-1 point guard held an offer from Ohio coming out of Archbishop Alter. In his senior season at Archbishop Alter, Simmons put up 24 points per game and earned Greater Catholic League Player of the Year honors.

The addition of Simmons is a valuable one, as both of Ohio’s point guards, Javarez “Bean” Willis and Stevie Taylor, will be gone after the upcoming season.
