As part of The Dairy Barn's centennial, the Athens arts center has announced the launch of its redesigned website, www.dairybarn.org
The site has been expanded to include online galleries of exhibitions, an improved Gallery Shop and more information about programs.
Local artists and representatives from the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce were on hand earlier today for a ribbon-cutting to launch the new site, which was designed by local multimedia company Electronic Vision.
"We are blessed to have a major (anonymous) donor that knows how important a website is to organizations like the Dairy Barn Arts Center," said Jane Forrest Redfern, Dairy Barn executive director. "This website will help us expand our ability to view the art in our exhibitions and buy locally made items, and exhibit art and pieces by exhibiting artists in our new online Gallery Shop. We hope that this will expand sales and make the Gallery Shop more sustainable as well as increase income for local and exhibiting artists."
The goal for the new website was to increase visibility of the organization and exhibitions, make it easy for visitors to find information and to increase sales in the Gallery Shop, which benefits local and exhibiting artists.
In addition to the Gallery Shop changes, other improvements include Twitter and Facebook links, a promo video, information about rental space and the ability to show exhibiting works in the online gallery.
