A former southeast Ohio police chief faces up to a year in jail after admitting to criminal misconduct.

The Columbus Dispatch reports that 45-year-old James Taylor – the former chief in the Hocking County village of Laurelville – pleaded guilty Tuesday to unauthorized use of property.

Taylor admitted he used the Ohio police computer system for purposes unrelated to law enforcement.

He was originally indicted on 12 counts of unauthorized use of property and one count of grand theft of a motor vehicle. The other charges were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.

Another former village police chief, Frank Diamond, has pleaded not guilty to one count of receiving stolen property. He is accused of receiving a 2001 Ford Crown Victoria that was obtained through theft.
