The Wahama White Falcons clawed their way to a second-straight conference victory over the Southern Tornadoes on Friday, as Wahama’s Kalieb Sheets and Demitrius Serevicz were able to run all over the Tornado defense en route to a 30-14 victory Friday night at Bachtel Stadium in Mason.

The Southern (1-2, 0-1 TVC-Hocking) offense was very tricky in the first half, running an option-style offense with three-main ball carriers, while still having a formidable passing offense. However, in the second half, the White Falcons' (2-1, 2-0 TVC-Hocking) defense was able to figure out and shut down the Tornado offense and take control of the game.

After a lackluster opening drive for Wahama, Serevicz took over the ground game, pounding through the Tornado defense for a 28-yard run, and then a 33-yard run a few plays later. Sheets would later it in from 10-yards out to cap off the 84-yard drive with the touchdown.

Later in the first half with Southern trailing 14-7, the Tornadoes were able to put together a 95-yard touchdown drive which included a brilliant 41-yard reception by receiver Connor Yost down to Wahama’s one-yard line. Quarterback Blake Johnson would punch it in from one-yard our to tie the game up at 14-14 going into the half.

From then on out, it was all Wahama.

Sheets registered 138 all-purpose yards—93 of those on the ground—and two touchdowns. Serevicz used his size to his advantage, rushing for 156 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries.

Southern, who was unable to establish dominance on offense, had a tough time competing with Wahama’s size as a whole. Blake Johnson threw for 99 yards and two total touchdowns, and Jaylen Blanks led the running game with 114 yards on 19 carries.

Wahama looks to stay undefeated in the TVC-Hocking against the Belpre Golden Eagles (2-1, 1-1 TVC-Hocking) at home next Friday. Southern will attempt to rebound at home against the Miller Falcons (0-3, 0-2 TVC-Hocking) next Friday.
