A new website, ohio.edu/lancaster/events, is showcasing the many arts and cultural events happening at Ohio University Lancaster.

“We decided to develop this website to help students, faculty, staff and community members find information about all of the wonderful events we have here on campus each semester,” said OUL Communications and Marketing Manager Cheri Russo.

The site is broken down into four categories: The Visual Arts, The Performing Arts, Speakers and Presentations, and Seminars and Conferences.

Users can find information about events, including exhibits in the Raymond S. Wilkes Gallery for the Visual Arts, OUL Theatre performances, and speakers on campus for special engagements.

Website users will also be able to find information about athletic events and all of the other activities on campus throughout the semester.

“The Ohio University Lancaster Campus enjoys a rich history in the arts,” said Lancaster Campus Dean Dr. Jim Smith. “There are many wonderful events on campus for community members and students to enjoy. This website will help keep those interested, on and off campus, informed about the happenings at OUL.”

The site is also mobile-friendly, so it will be easy to use on cell phones or tablets. It also features an events calendar that allows users to download event information to their personal calendar.

“There have been many times when I have heard about an event and wanted to go, but it slipped my mind,” said Russo. “The ability to use technology to remind those interested about the event is a great feature of this website.”

“The Ohio University Lancaster Campus is a vibrant place,” said Smith. “We continue to add more events to our calendar each semester to give students the chance to experience arts and culture, but also to enhance these types of offerings for the Lancaster community. We aspire to be the cultural and intellectual hub of Fairfield County and the surrounding area.  This website will ensure that those who are interested can find out event details and plan to attend.”
