John Glenn looked to upset conference powerhouse Tri-Valley, who entered Friday’s game with a 30-game win streak in the MVL. However, the Scotties were rude guests to John Glenn, winning by a score of 44-0.

Tri-Valley (7-0, 5-0 MVL) and senior quarterback Brock Fargus scored on the opening possession of the game when Fargus found running back Logan Bash for a 49-yard touchdown pass. The Scotties converted on a two-point conversion to go up 8-0 in the first quarter. Bash would end the night with 40 yards rushing, 49 yards receiving and two total touchdowns.

John Glenn (4-3, 3-2 MVL) showed some resistance on the next Tri-Valley possession when Kaden Jones intercepted Fargus on the eleventh play of the drive. John Glenn threatened on the ensuing possession, but the Tri-Valley defense dug in and stopped the Little Muskies to put the ball back in Fargus’ hands.

The Scotties ran away with it after that. They converted four straight plays for first downs and finished the drive off with a five-yard touchdown run by Bubby Scott, who ended the night with 53 yards rushing and two touchdowns.

When it seemed as if the Scottie offense was at full throttle, head coach Justin Buttermore was able to increase offensive production by getting all of his best athletes on the field at the same time.

Rather than rotating talented backs Bubby Scott and Logan Bash, Tri-Valley switched it up a bit putting Bash at slot receiver for much of the first half. Tri-Valley dominated the one-on-one match ups against the Little Muskie defense with multiple screens and read options.

The Little Muskies were unsure who to key on for the Scotties, as 14 different offensive players for Tri-Valley had touches on the night. Spreading the ball around helped Fargus to 207 passing yards and three touchdowns on the night, in addition to his 81 yards on the ground.

With the new point-differential rule affect yet again for the Scotties, a running clock led to only eight Scottie second-half points. Tri-Valley’s tough defense held John Glenn to just 85 total yards on the night. The Scottie defense rounded out the scoring for the evening with a fourth quarter safety.

John Glenn looks to bounce back next week when they travel to Maysville (7-0, 5-0 MVL), while Tri-Valley looks ahead to Sheridan (6-1, 4-1 MVL).
