An elections official says a power outage affecting four voting precincts in south Toledo hasn't kept people from casting their ballots.

Ed Feeny with the Lucas County Board of Elections says the polling places lost power Tuesday afternoon after a car crashed into a power pole nearby.

The touch-screen voting machines are equipped with backup battery power, but paper ballots also were being used to preserve the batteries. Feeny says voting was going on as usual.

Feeny didn't know how many potential voters were affected by the situation. He says officials expect the power to be restored before the polls close at 7:30 p.m.
