A Nelsonville man currently incarcerated after pleading guilty to drug charges has been indicted on more drug charges, this time for allegedly trafficking heroin in a school zone.

Larry Sheridan, 38, appeared in Athens County Common Pleas Court last week and pleaded innocent to four counts of trafficking in heroin. All four allege the activity occurred in a school zone.

Sheridan was granted a bond of release on own recognizance but he still remains incarcerated after pleading guilty in October to trafficking in heroin, possession of heroin and possessing drug abuse instruments. He was sentenced then to 12 months in prison.

According to a news release from the Athens Major Crimes Unit, a “long term investigation” has been going on related to Sheridan’s alleged drug-related activities. The investigation allegedly revealed four separate incidents in which Sheridan sold heroin to an informant at a location chosen by Sheridan, which was near Tri-County Career Center.

The release states that each transaction were for amounts under bulk as defined by the Ohio Revised Code but specific amounts were not noted. The charges would have been fifth-degree felonies but being in the vicinity of a school upped the charges to fourth-degree.
