Dawson Named MAC Swimmer Of The Week
< < Back to laura-dawson-named-mac-womens-swimmer-weekOhio’s Laura Dawson was named Mid-American Conference Women’s Swimmer of the Week on Monday, following her performance in the Bobcats’ meet against the Miami RedHawks on Saturday
Dawson dominated the 200-yard distance and claimed the butterfly, backstroke and IM with times of 2:04.83, 2:00.23 and 2:06.75, respectively.
She was also a member of the winning 200-yard medley relay team.
The sophomore has been a standout for the Bobcats all season and as she prepares for the MAC Championships, she will have some big races on her hands. The entries haven’t been decided, but she currently ranks near the top the conference in five events:
100-yard butterfly: second with a 54.73 time
100-yard backstroke: fourth, 55.25
200-yard backstroke: fourth, 1:58.51
200-yard freestyle: fourth, 1:50.76
200-yard IM: fourth, 2:03.89
Dawson and the Bobcats are off for almost three weeks until they compete at the MAC Championships in Ypsilanti, Mich. The three-day event starts on Feb. 26.
