Transportation officials say some Ohio motorists will soon be able to renew their vehicle registration at grocery store kiosks.

The Northeast Ohio Media Group reports the Ohio Department of Public Safety says self-service kiosks will be placed in supermarkets Cleveland, Cincinnati and Columbus in the next six to eight weeks. Kiosk users will be able to swipe their driver’s license and credit card to receive their vehicle registration stickers.

Department of Public Safety Director John Born told an Ohio House subcommittee this week that the department is hoping to provide services when and where Ohioans and want and need them.

Born says that if the pilot program is successful, the Bureau of Motor Vehicles will look to install more kiosks around the state.
