Boldon Named WBB MAC Coach of the Year

The Mid-American Conference named Ohio women’s basketball head coach Bob Boldon its women’s basketball Coach of the Year on Tuesday.

Boldon turned around a 2013-14 team with a 9-21 record to lead the Bobcats to their first regular season conference title since 1994-95.

In his second season at the helm, Boldon led Ohio to the program’s fourth 20-win season. The team finished the regular season 25-4 – a 16-win improvement from last season.

He also led the Bobcats to the second most wins in program history only behind the 1985-86 team. The ‘Cats 16 conference wins tied a school record for most in a season.

Boldon’s philosophy of shooting 3-pointers helped set the women’s program record this season with 270 and are nine made threes away from beating the men’s program mark of 278.

The award is the first time an Ohio women’s coach has won since Marsha Reall during the 1995 season.
