An Ohio legislative panel reviewing the governor’s $72.3 billion state budget proposal expects to get some ideas on how to change it Friday.
House Finance Chairman Ryan Smith says he anticipates getting more than 800 amendments by the afternoon.
His committee has recently heard hours of testimony on a provision to phase out independent health providers.
Among other initiatives, Gov. John Kasich’s two-year spending plan includes a package of tax changes that he says will result in a net $500 million tax cut.
Smith says he expects a revised budget to come before the committee by mid-April, with the full House voting on the measure during the third full week of April.
The Senate would then review the bill. The budget must be in place by June 30.
