The Athens High School Drama Club, fresh from their featured performance at the State Thespian Conference, will present Hello, Dolly! at the Athens High School Auditorium, April 16-18 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 19 at 2 p.m.

Hello, Dolly! is based on Thornton Wilder’s 1938 farce The Merchant of Yonkers; a tale of the meddlesome widow Dolly Levi who strives to bring romance to several people—including herself. The classic musical was at one time the longest-running musical in Broadway history.

Carol Patterson, director of the Athens High School Drama Club, praised the students for their drive and energy during this season.

“The cast, crew and production team of Hello, Dolly! have been an inspiration to me,” she said. “The level of commitment and talent have constantly surprised and awed me, especially after coming straight from a wonderful experience of performing The Diary of Anne Frank at the State Conference. They found the drive and moxie to dig in and make Dolly come alive with energy and fun.”

Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets will be sold at the door and seating is general admission.
