One person was transported to local hospital and a second was cited by police following an incident on Sunday morning at Athens Middle School.

The Athens Police Department, Athens Fire Department and Athens County EMS responded to the school on West State Street just before 3 a.m. Sunday after a report of a person falling from the middle school.

According to the fire department report, once arriving on scene, first responders found that Sabrina Couch had fallen from the roof into the atrium.

The report stated that firefighters made entry through a window in the auditorium, using a stokes basket and ladder to get Couch out.

She was transported to OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital for treatment.

Capt. Ralph Harvey of the Athens Police Department stated that Christopher Dixon was cited for criminal trespassing as a result of the incident. Harvey said that the woman was possibly intoxicated.

“It is my understanding this was a minor incident. There was no significant damage and no serious injury,” stated acting Athens City Schools Supt. Tom Gibbs via email on Monday.
