COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Ohio’s unemployment rate inched up slightly to 5.2 percent in April after holding steady for the previous three months.

The Friday morning report from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services showed Ohio had 297,000 unemployed workers in April, up 3,000 from a revised 294,000 unemployed workers in March.

Ohio’s unemployment rate had held steady at 5.1 percent since December.

The state saw gains in April in industries including manufacturing, professional and business services and education and health. Sectors with the biggest job losses were local government and trade, transportation and utilities.
