The Farmers Bank in Tuppers Plains has once again been hit by an armed robber.

Meigs County Sheriff Keith Wood told The Messenger that at 3:56 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, a white female entered the bank brandishing what appeared to be a hand gun. The woman then ordered bank employees to keep their hands up and took an undisclosed amount of money from one teller.

The suspect, who is described as 5 foot, 2 inches and heavy-set fled the bank on foot toward the baseball fields in Tuppers Plains where she entered a white newer model crossover style SUV, according to Wood. The suspect then fled the area and had not been located at the time of The Messenger’s news deadline.

The FBI and Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation are assisting the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office with the case.

This incident comes slightly more than two years after the bank was robbed the last time. In that case the suspect also fled on foot toward the ball fields, according to Wood.

Anyone with information on the suspect can call the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office at (740) 992-3371.
