The alleged accomplice in a Glouster robbery has been arrested, according to the Athens County Prosecutor’s Office, and the alleged perpetrator of the robbery is “known.”

Evan E. Smith, 46, of Glouster, was charged with complicity to robbery on Tuesday. He was charged after an investigation into an alleged armed robbery at Certified Gas Station on High Street. Glouster Mayor Miles Wolf released a statement on Saturday stating that the alleged incident had occurred on Friday.

“According to witnesses, a white male entered the store, walked to the cooler area, waited for another customer to leave the establishment, and then approached the clerk at the checkout area,” Wolf wrote in the statement.

The suspect allegedly brandished a handgun, demanded cash and fled  with approximately $75. Police say the man is described as having worn blue jeans, a blue button-up shirt and a ball cap.

“Smith’s co-conspirator is known and authorities are attempting to locate him at this time,” a release by the prosecutor’s office stated.

Smith is accused of driving the “getaway car,” in the incident, Athens County Prosecutor Keller Blackburn said on Tuesday.

The investigation into the robbery is ongoing, led by the Secret Service and Outreach team at the prosecutor’s office.
