CORNING — A Perry County man who had been hospitalized since reportedly being assaulted outside a Corning carryout last Thursday, died Sunday afternoon in a Columbus hospital.

According to the Perry County Sheriff’s Department,  Fred Fisher, 55,  of Corning, allegedly became involved in a dispute with Brandon Keith, 23, of Glouster. Deputies were dispatched at 10:44 p.m. Thursday to John’s Place, a Corning carryout, where the assault allegedly occurred. When deputies arrived on the scene they found Fisher unconscious and unresponsive outside the store. He was flown to OSU Medical Center in Columbus with what a department official described as severe trauma to the head. It is not yet known what prompted the apparent assault or if the two men knew each other.
