This Saturday, Stuart’s Opera House will host one of its most popular events–the annual Night with the Legends fundraiser, featuring area talent paying tribute to some of music’s biggest stars.

Now in its seventh year, the show is organized by Alex Couladis, an Athens native, CPA, business development consultant and Stuart’s Opera House board member. Known locally for his impersonations of Elvis and Vanilla Ice, Couladis has also organized fundraising events for the USO and the Shade Community Center.

Taking a step beyond karaoke performances, Couladis has gathered a group of talented local vocalists who will be backed by an all-star lineup of area musicians. In addition to himself, Couladis has enlisted Otis Cockron, Jared Sheets, JoAnn Wolfe, Scott McDonald, Sharell Arocho, Andy Stone, Bill L’Heureux, Charles Brown, Michael Weiser and Bekah Prater to perform as some of entertainment’s biggest legends, including Elvis Presley, Al Green, Aretha Franklin, Bonnie Raitt, Bobby Darin, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Meatloaf, The Blues Brothers, The Spinners, Natalie Cole and Adele.

The music will be provided by the Night with the Legends House Band, featuring Bill Rawlins, Jeff Redefer, Tom Daniels and Jennifer Sheets, along with Kay Carter, Pete Couladis, Scott Carson, Ken Edwards, Corey Young, Janice Paris, Allyn Reilly, Doug Carter, and several backup singers and dancers.

This event is an important fundraiser for the historic 136-year old Stuart’s Opera House. The venue, a non-profit performing arts center in Nelsonville, Ohio, hosts more than 75 events a year, including music, theater, art, film and educational programming for the region’s students.

In addition to money raised through ticket sales, attendees will be able to vote with their dollars for their favorite performer, with the money being partly matched by each performer’s sponsor. Ballots and envelopes will be included in each program.

Stuart’s staff encourages those interested to pick up tickets now, as the Legends shows are usually sold-out events. Visit stuartsoperahouse.org for details.
