The South Gallia Rebels have all the makings of being the surprise team of the TVC Hocking.

Ending the 2014 season in the middle of the pack with a 4-4 conference record, the Rebels have experience that could help them climb the ladder towards the top of the conference.

Sixth-year head coach Jason Peck is expecting the more experienced players to lead the way on what he described as a “senior heavy” team. The Rebels lost only six players to graduation.

Two of South Gallia’s biggest offensive threats were not among that group. The Hutchinsons, quarterback Landon and wide receiver Kane, are back to lead an offense which averaged 22.8 points per game. That same unit also recorded north of 30 points on three separate occasions.

On the defensive side of the ball, Bruce Rutt leads the unit from the middle. The senior inside linebacker stands at 6’1”, 250lbs, giving the Rebels size in the center of the defense.

Peck spoke highly of Rutt’s ability to control the defense, which held opponents to 20 points or fewer six different times.

South Gallia begins the season on the road on Aug. 28 against Sciotoville. That game will kick off at 7:30 p.m.
