Amanda-Clearcreek (1-4, 0-2) and Fairfield Union (2-3, 0-2) will both be battling to get back on track Friday night.

The Aces won their season opener, but have since dropped four games in a row. The Falcons find themselves in a similar situation having dropped three of their last four after a season-opening win.

Amanda-Clearcreek’s struggles have stemmed from the manner in which they finish games. The Aces have been successful in jumping on opponents early, but have struggled to piece together solid wire-to-wire performances.

This time around, expect Amanda-Clearcreek to establish the running game early with Jordan Leasure in order to wear down a banged up Fairfield Union defense. A worn out Falcon defense could serve Amanda-Clearcreek well when the fourth quarter rolls around.

For Fairfield Union, scoring continues to be problem No. 1. The Falcons scored a season-high 14 points during their week five loss to Circleville, marking their season-high point total. The performance brought Fairfield Union’s season point total up to 44.

Fairfield Union’s two wins were defensive struggles, escaping games against New Lexington and Vinton County by the score of 7-0 and 10-8, respectively.

Aside from scoring, Fairfield Union may struggle with Amanda-Clearcreek’s rushing attack after having been gashed by Circleville and Logan Elm’s running games over the last two weeks. Combine Leasure with other Amanda-Clearcreek running options and the Aces will do what they can to stay one step ahead of Fairfield Union’s defense.

Should Fairfield Union reverse its ways and contain Amanda-Clearcreek’s rushing attack, expect another low-scoring, tight game on Friday.
