With his team’s best chance to pick up its first win, quarterback Kole Carter put on a monster performance.

His four touchdowns lifted Gallia Academy (1-7, 1-0) to a long-awaited 31-14 win over the Warren Warriors (0-8, 0-2).

Warren had no answers for Carter as the game progressed, who scored three times on the ground and once more through the air. The Warriors contained Carter early, with both teams trading three-and-outs during the first quarter, before Carter and the Blue Devils broke through in the second.

His 15-yard touchdown scamper put Gallia Academy up 7-0, a lead the Blue Devils would not relinquish.

Warren came close to cutting into Gallia Academy’s lead, advancing the ball into the red zone, but as was the case the entire night, turnovers and penalties cost them. Warren coughed up the ball and Gallia Academy’s Brett Hively scooped and scored from 64 yards out.

The Warriors finished with six penalties for 65 yards.

Matt Bailey’s 17-yard touchdown in the third to put the Blue Devils up by three scores, giving Gallia Academy a commanding 20-0 heading into the game’s final stanza.

Warren mounted a late comeback, courtesy of two one-yard Jacob Davis touchdown runs, but it proved to be too little too late.

With momentum on its side, Gallia Academy will host Logan while Warren will take on Parkersburg.
