COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers are partnering with law enforcement in two other states for a two-day crackdown on motorists who drive recklessly around commercial vehicles.

The patrol says the effort that includes Indiana and Michigan and will focus on interstates 70 and 75. It will be on Tuesday and Wednesday.

During the past five years, the patrol says, 67 percent of crash deaths involving commercial vehicles in Ohio are the fault of other motorists driving around them. Drivers who follow trucks too closely, change lanes unsafely and fail to yield have caused crashes.

About 161 people on average die in the state in crashes involving commercial vehicles every year.
