HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) – A West Virginia drug court has a new name and a broader mission.

Friday, the Cabell-Huntington Drug Court was introduced along with a new program aimed at women who have used prostitution to support a drug habit. The drug court previously had been known simply as the Cabell County Drug Court.

The program for prostitutes is called the Women’s Empowerment and Addiction Recovery Program. It will be part of the drug court.

West Virginia Public Broadcasting reports that the new program will mirror the drug court, but with elements that specifically address woman. They include domestic violence counseling, healthy sexuality and family planning.

Huntington Police Chief Joe Ciccarelli says prostitution is a subset of the larger drug problem.

Prostitution arrests have doubled in Huntington since 2010 .
