Lily & Madeleine Return to Nelsonville Nov. 13
< < Back to lily-madeleine-return-to-nelsonville-nov-13Stuart’s Opera House in Nelsonville will host a special backstage show with sister singer-songwriters Lily & Madeleine on Friday, Nov. 13 at 8 p.m., with Shannon Hayden opening the show.
Hailing from Indianapolis, Lily & Madeleine are Nelsonville Music Festival veterans having performed at the 2014 fest. The duo first appeared back in 2012 with a YouTube video that led to an EP and two full-length albums on Asthmatic Kitty Records.
According to American Songwriter, “[Lily & Madeleine’s] voices can pierce through the chaos of everyday life and actually make you stop what you’re doing,” while Jon Pareles of the The New York Times wrote “the thing that flags them as extraordinary is their sibling vocal blend, deep and seamless and relaxed.”
After years of classical training, cellist Shannon Hayden is taking a different approach these days, running her instrument through an array of electronic gear and amplification. According to a release, Hayden’s music features “occasional heavy outbursts of distortion with elements bordering noise-punk, matched with layers of lush ambiance combining both current and traditional styles with all the virtuosity of a player redefining our expectations of maturing young prodigies.”
