HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) – A Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Huntington has suspended all activities amid an investigation of its finances.

The investigation of East Huntington VFW Post 9738 is being conducted by a committee appointed by the West Virginia Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Committee chairman Wes Shepard told The Herald-Dispatch the investigation includes a reported embezzlement. He says the post will remain closed until the investigation is completed.

Huntington police received a report that a post employee embezzled $13,000 during an event on July 21. Police chief Joe Cicarrelli told the newspaper that no criminal charges have been filed.
