After back-to-back home games, Federal Hocking split its games against Wahama and Nelsonville-York. After the split, the Lancers improve to 3-5 on the season.

The Lancers opened up with a 54-36 loss to the White Falcons on Dec. 22. But the Lancers quickly bounced back, beating Nelsonville-York 53-46 to secure the third victory of the season.

With wins over the Belpre, Southern and Nelsonville-York, the Lancers still have not beaten a team with a record above .500. This is a serious hurdle that this Federal Hocking team can overcome in its only game of next week against Meigs.

The Lancers host the undefeated Marauders on Dec. 29. The Lancers face the tough task of slowing down a Meigs offense that averages nearly 70 points per game. Through eight games, Federal Hocking averages just 45 points.

The Lancers have been able to seal close games all season and come away with wins, but keeping games close is what has been giving them trouble. The Lancers are winning games by an average of six points but losing games by an average of nearly 30 points.

With about a third of the season under their collective belts, the Lancers sit at sixth place in their division, while the Marauders are in first place in their division.
