The Buffalo Bulls tripped up Ohio for third time this season winning the MAC Tournament quarterfinal matcup 72-60 Wednesday.

Through most of the first three quarters, the game was back and fourth, but that all changed as the Bulls completely outplayed the Bobcats from the halfway point in the third until the end of the game. Buffalo was able to spread out its scoring down the stretch. Three different players scored at least 15 points .

The Bulls were led by sophomore guard Joanna Smith who had 19 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Stephanie Reid also stepped up for the Bulls with 16 points, four rebounds and three assists.

The Bobcats lacked any flow in this game, and their offense was lackluster at best for much of the game. Ohio missed countless passes and committed 13 turnovers in the game. Guard Kiyanna Black shot just 3-14 from the field and did not make a single shot inside the arc. As a team, the Bobcats had just 9 assists, five of which came from Quiera Lampkins.

Other than assists, Lampkins also led the team in scoring with 23 points and was second in rebounds with 7. She also grabbed one steal and led the team with two blocks.

In the game the Bulls outplayed the Bobcats in nearly every major category including: rebounds, field goal percentage, assists, steals, blocks and turnovers. Buffalo is now 2-0 in the MAC Tournamentand will face either Akron or Toledo on March 11 at noon.

While the Bobcats will likely not make it to the NCAA tournament, they do have an automatic bid to the Women’s National Invitation Tournament.
