Unemployment Rates Increase in All 55 West Virginia Counties

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) – Unemployment rates increased in all 55 of West Virginia’s counties in January.

WorkForce West Virginia says Jefferson County’s 3.9 percent unemployment rate was the lowest in the state, followed by Berkeley County at 4.7 percent and Monongalia County at 5 percent.

Calhoun County had the highest unemployment rate at 16.9 percent. McDowell was next at 14.2 percent, and Mingo was at 14 percent.

Statewide, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose one-tenth of a percentage point to 6.3 percent in January.
