Ben Lachman graduated from Ohio University’s Honors Tutorial College in 2005 and moved directly into innovation and entrepreneurship. Today, he is the principal in one company and also a founding member in a collaborative workspace enterprise.

Lachman is a principal in Nice Mohawk Limited, located in Athens. The company creates three products: Ita, a list-making app for iOS — TypeSnippets, a keyboard extension for iOS 8 – and PhoneExpander, which helps you free up space on your iOS devices. This is the second iOS and Mac software company that Lachman has started.
He also is one of the founding members of Athensworks, a co-working collaborative work space. It is a facility in which freelancers and entrepreneurs can work alongside other freelancers and innovators.

Not only does Athensworks provide work space, it also offers a “community” of other professionals in similar and disparate fields. Members feed off of the energy, ideas, and expertise of other members, according to Lachman.
“Although our focus mainly has been in tech creative markets, we have some who have varied from that formula,” Lachman says. “I would say we are really a center that focuses on creativity.”

Athensworks is located at 29 E. Carpenter St. in Athens. It has been there since 2012. More details about its operation can be obtained at its website: http://www.athensworks.com/

Lachman, an Athens native, has been extremely active in innovative fields. He has been involved as a coach and a judge of Start Up-Weekends sponsored by the Ohio University Innovation Center.

In 2013, Lachman also was a nominee for the 2013 Entrepreneur of the Year Award at the Regional Innovation Awards.
