Update 10:55 p.m.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Ohio’s state treasurer says five of Ohio’s public universities are putting their spending information on his online checkbook website.

Republican Josh Mandel made the announcement Tuesday. He was joined by Inter-University Council President Bruce Johnson and presidents from several of the participating universities: Bowling Green, Central State, Miami, Wright State and Ohio universities.

Mandel said it’s the first time students, faculty and others will be able to see detailed university operational expenditures. The data is expected to go online over the course of this year.

The searchable checkbook site contains individual state expenses going back to 2008. It’s been a focus of Mandel’s since the launch in December 2014.

The site now includes pension funds, local governments and school districts. It has been recognized for its Google-style search capabilities.
