CINCINNATI (AP) — A federal appeals court in Cincinnati is hearing arguments in two cases that challenge voting rules in the key presidential battleground of Ohio.

A three-judge panel was slated to hear arguments Thursday in a lawsuit dealing with the state’s ballot procedures.

Under two laws that passed in 2014, voters must accurately provide their names, addresses, birthdates, signatures and forms of identification when casting absentee or provisional ballots. Otherwise, they risk their votes not being counted.

The laws also cut the time for voters to fix any problems.

One federal judge has upheld those laws, while another has ruled them unconstitutional.

Arguments in a separate appeal were heard Tuesday. That challenge involves several GOP-backed laws, including the elimination of a week of early voting in which Ohioans also could register.
