The Ohio University Lancaster theatre program’s final performance of its run of The Wizard of Oz filled the newly- renovated Wagner Theatre to capacity with a thrilled audience of all ages.

“We’ve never had this many in the theatre for a performance,” A. Victor Jones, artistic director and lecturer of theatre at Ohio University Lancaster announced prior to the show. “It really shows how much this community supports the arts in Lancaster.”

Over $200,000 was raised through community donations for renovations to the Wagner Theatre. The donations allowed for improvements to the sound system and theatre acoustics, as well as a new lighting system and many aesthetic improvements.

Upcoming fall semester shows for OUL’s theatre program include Dead Man’s Cell Phone, running Nov. 3 through Nov. 6 and A Charlie Brown Christmas, from Dec. 1 to Dec. 4. Tickets for reserved seats are available for purchase online at https://commerce.cashnet.com/oul-theatre  or by phone 740-681-3353.

A rich tradition of theatre continues to thrive and grow on the Ohio University Lancaster campus. OUL’s Theatre program offers four major productions a year with The Wizard of Oz selected for production  during the Lancaster Festival. The faculty and staff of Ohio University Lancaster are dedicated to continuing a strong, successful and educational theatre program.
