CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) – A West Virginia school district will receive almost $1.5 million in federal money to replace school items damaged by floods in June.

On Thursday, Congressman Evan Jenkins and Sens. Joe Manchin and Shelley Moore Capito announced that Nicholas County School District is receiving the grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Jenkins says the grant will help schools replace the millions of dollars of computers, books and furniture that were destroyed by the floods.

The June 23 floods killed 23 people and devastated homes, businesses, schools and infrastructure.
