The Black Box Theater at The Ohio State University at Newark is proud to present the vampire thriller, Dracula from the novel by Bram Stoker, dramatized by Hamilton Deane and John L. Balderston. Performances run from Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 10-12, and again Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 17-19. The curtain opens at 8 p.m. in the Black Box Theater in LeFevre Hall.

Additionally, there will be two matinees at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 13 and 20. General admission is $10 and student tickets are $5. Tickets may be purchased at the door.

The only Dracula script approved by the Stoker estate, this is the original 1927 stage play.  Lucy Seward (Erin Hedrick), whose father (Ron Keaton) is the head doctor of an English sanatorium, has been attacked by some mysterious illness. Dr. Van Helsing (Russ Connor), a specialist, suspects the girl is the victim of a sort of ghost that appears at night sucking blood from its victims – a vampire!

Dr. Seward, Van Helsing and fiancée, Jonathan Harker (Destin Richardson), set about hunting the monster down.  Can they save Lucy in time?  Is madman Renfield (Sam Driscoll) friend or foe?  And who is the mysterious new neighbor, Count Dracula (Travis Kopp)?  Also included in the ensemble are Miss Wells (Elena Fruechtnicht) and Butterfield (Mitchell Baughman).

Perfect for the Halloween season, prepare to be thrilled by this cult classic.  Not recommended for young children.

This production is presented through special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc. All performances are at The Black Box Theater located in LeFevre Hall, 1199 University Drive, Newark campus.
