Annie Get Your Gun will be the November production for the Zanesville Community Theatre, opening Friday, Nov. 4 and Saturday, Nov. 5 at 8 p.m. There will also be 8 p.m. performances on the following weekend, Nov. 11 and 12, as well as two Sunday matinees, at 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 6 and 13.

Annie Get Your Gun is a musical, based on a real-life sharp-shooter, named Annie Oakley, who was born and raised here in Ohio. The music is by one of America’s best-known composers, Irving Berlin.

Young Annie Oakley was the best shot around and supported her little brother and sisters by selling the game she hunted. Discovered by Col. Buffalo Bill Cody and persuaded to join his Wild West Show, she meets and falls in love with Frank Butler, the show’s original sharp-shooter, whom she soon eclipses as the main attraction. The rousing, sure-fire finale hits the mark every time in a testament to the power of female ingenuity. ZCT’s production is directed by Angel Palmer, assisted by Eric Blake, and produced by Val Gahagan, with Tom Thompkins as musical director.

The large cast includes Kevin Rahrig as Frank Butler; Kristin Blodgett as Annie Oakley; Phil Palmer as Charlie Davenport; Sarah Gantzer as Dolly Tate; Jan Smith as Buffalo Bill Cody; Phil Sakal as Chief Sitting Bull and Lew Woodward as Pawnee Bill. Other cast members include William Harris, Eric Blake, Cheryl Bragg, Rachelle Snyder, Jayden Hendershott, Maddie Gantzer, Caleb Silvia, Jared Gantzer, Amelia Olinger Shaffstall, Alonna Hendershott, Grayson Gantzer, Levi Gahagan, Jonah Gahagan, Elijah Murphy, Cady Hendershott, Constance Gahagan, Katie Gahagan, Becca Wilson, Misha Metcalf, Julia Gantzer, Jay Shaffstall, Lisa Olinger, Sally Goins and Katie Tewksbary.
